Halloween vampire apples
Skewer the apples on the shish kebabs.
Pour sugar and cream into the saucepan. Heat the liquid, stirring, until it boils gently.
Let the contents of the saucepan simmer for at least 15-20 minutes.
Stir constantly and gently so that nothing burns - and until the mixture has taken on a viscous caramel consistency.
From experience, you'll have to trial and error until you get the consistency you want - if the mixture stays too thin, let it simmer longer or add some more sugar.
Season the caramel mixture with a little honey and vanilla flavoring.
If you feel like it, you can color the liquid caramel mass with food coloring. Depending on the color and the amount of color, the effect will vary.
Keep in mind that liquid food coloring thins the consistency somewhat. If necessary, you should therefore boil the caramel again briefly after coloring.
When the time has come, dip the apple into the caramel mass with a twisting motion. After removing the apple, slowly rotate it a little further in the air so that the caramel mass can harden a little more and does not drip down.
Place the apple on a plate or other flat surface. Once the caramel layer has dried to a certain extent, cut a crescent into the apple with a small sharp knife.
Now you stir the cake glaze already thick. So with a little water.
Now it's time for the teeth: Cut a marshmallow into long pieces. Carefully carve two of them so that they are pointed. Just like real vampire teeth. For the "normal" teeth in the middle, cut a marshmallow piece in half and leave the "teeth" as blunt as they are. Done!
Use the cake glaze as glue: spread it on the top of the apple "mouth" ...
... and glue in the "center teeth" first.
Then it's the turn of the pointed vampire teeth. Of course, you can also equip your vampire apple only with pointed teeth. Our template is so to speak only a serving suggestion ; -)
Finally, spread some more red cake frosting as "gums".
Caution! This apple bites back!
Variation: Eyeballs
Cut an eye socket into the caramelized apple with a knife. Insert a black grape into a pitted lychee.
To make sure the eye holds in the cave, again use red cake icing as glue.
Press the eye into the eye socket ...
... and ready!
